In line with the directives of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly to prepare an integrated plan to address the anticipated weather fluctuations during the winter season—and following the instructions of Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Eng. Sherif El-Sherbiny to enhance the readiness of all new cities—the executive body of 6th of October City has taken all necessary precautions to ensure full preparedness.
Eng. Mohamed Mostafa, Head of the 6th of October City Authority, reviewed the city’s readiness for the winter season by inspecting the alignment and preparedness of equipment, technical teams, and workforce. The inspection aimed to confirm full operational readiness to respond efficiently to any emergencies that may arise due to rainfall or severe weather conditions.
These preparations included a comprehensive field simulation to test the swift and effective mobilization of machinery and technical teams in response to heavy rainfall scenarios. The city has equipped itself with a diverse range of mechanisms such as water suction and vacuum trucks, “navory” vehicles, loaders, excavators, and emergency response vehicles fitted with mobile pumps, along with specialized technical crews.

Eng. Mohamed Mostafa affirmed that the relevant departments within the authority—including utilities, emergency response, maintenance, and the operations room—are operating under a unified coordination plan around the clock to ensure rapid and effective handling of any reports. He further noted that the drainage manholes and slope networks have already been cleaned and maintained, in addition to the removal of debris from rainwater inlets and gullies to minimize the risk of water accumulation, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
In a related statement, Eng. Gamal Fahmy, Deputy Head of the Authority for Operation and Maintenance, explained that a comprehensive maintenance and operation plan has been implemented for all equipment used in managing rainwater. He confirmed that the maintenance team regularly inspects the efficiency of networks and infrastructure systems. Emergency teams have also been equipped with all necessary tools to intervene swiftly in areas where water accumulation might occur across different parts of the city.
He added that close monitoring has been intensified at “hot spots” that have previously experienced water accumulation during past seasons, ensuring rapid response when necessary to maintain smooth traffic flow and protect citizens’ safety.
The Head of the Authority also confirmed that all vital equipment and devices have been inspected and maintained to guarantee full operational readiness. Rapid intervention teams have been assigned to follow up on key locations and main city corridors, while the central operations room has raised its alert level to maximum readiness to coordinate any urgent response.
Eng. Mohamed Mostafa concluded by emphasizing the importance of full coordination among all departments within the authority and the necessity of teamwork to ensure high-quality preparedness against any challenges during the winter season. He stressed that the ultimate goal is to protect citizens’ safety and maintain uninterrupted delivery of essential public services.
