Minister of Housing Follows Up on Road, Main Axis, and District Development Projects

At the beginning of his tour in several cities, Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, held a meeting with the heads and officials of the development authorities of East Cairo cities, which include 10th of Ramadan, Gardens of 10th of Ramadan, Obour, and New Obour, to review the main work files. The discussions covered projects related to the development of main roads, axes, and various districts, in addition to the plans for projects that have been completed, are currently being implemented, or are planned. Several officials from the Ministry of Housing and the New Urban Communities Authority attended the meeting.

The minister confirmed that this tour represents the second phase of project follow-up in East Cairo cities, pointing out that he had inspected a number of cities in the region last week. He emphasized the implementation of the directives of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly regarding attention to all details related to urban development, including maintenance works, upgrading efficiency, waste removal, and monitoring the progress of the sanitation and cleanliness system.

The minister highlighted the importance of having maintenance teams ready immediately after the completion of projects, especially regarding road maintenance, which is a vital element in all cities. He stressed the need to restore things to their proper condition once development works are completed. He also directed efforts toward improving the efficiency of gates, directional signage, and public squares in various cities while ensuring continuous follow-up on development projects. He further emphasized the importance of making good use of vacant lands and firmly addressing violations of building regulations.

During the meeting, the minister reviewed the progress made in projects in 10th of Ramadan City, especially those related to road and axis development, improving utilities, and cleanliness. He explained that several main axes and city entrances have been completed, including the Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq axis and the roads of the Jordanian area and surrounding neighborhoods. Proposed axes for development, such as widening city entrances, were also discussed.

The meeting also addressed the district development plan in Gardens of 10th of Ramadan City, including upgrading road efficiency and maintaining main axes. Landscaping, cleanliness, and signage works were also discussed. The minister instructed starting with the areas most in need of development in Gardens of 10th of Ramadan, with a focus on giving the city a distinctive visual identity and improving its visual elements such as gates and public squares. He also stressed the review of sold land status and the implementation of service projects for residents.

In Obour City, the minister discussed the status of ongoing projects in the housing, services, and infrastructure sectors, particularly the facility modernization project using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and preparations for the winter season by ensuring maintenance of stations and rainwater drainage networks. He also reviewed development plans for the electricity and telecommunications sectors and the provision of new investment opportunities. He directed the follow-up of agricultural projects, enhancing work in the industrial zone, organizing streets more efficiently, and addressing occupancy issues.

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny concluded his tour by meeting with a number of citizens to listen to their suggestions and requests, promising to study them and work on fulfilling them in a way that serves the residents of these cities.
