In the same context, Essam Shiha, President of the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights, extended his heartfelt congratulations to Egypt — its leadership, government, and people — for this well-deserved victory in securing a seat on the Human Rights Council for the 2026–2028 term, following its election by the United Nations General Assembly with 173 votes. He stressed that this win reflects growing international appreciation for Egypt’s leading role in promoting and safeguarding human rights.

Shiha, in his statement, highlighted the significant achievements Egypt has accomplished, such as the implementation of the National Human Rights Strategy, the development of the criminal justice system, the empowerment of women, youth, and people with disabilities, in addition to the expansion of social protection programs — all of which fall under a comprehensive national vision to build a modern state founded on the principles of citizenship, the rule of law, and equality.

The organization noted that Egypt’s election to the council sends a clear message of international confidence in the credibility and seriousness of the Egyptian experience in the field of human rights. It also reflects Egypt’s ability to contribute effectively to the development of the global human rights system and to the consolidation of social justice values both locally and globally.

In conclusion, the organization affirmed that this achievement represents another significant milestone in the journey of Egyptian diplomacy and reinforces Egypt’s leading position in supporting the values of peace, tolerance, coexistence, and respect for international law.
