Engineer Amr Khattab, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Housing, confirmed that the ministry has begun implementing a specific plan, directed by the Prime Minister, to provide alternative housing units for old rent tenants. He explained that the Egypt Digital Platform has already started receiving applications.
He clarified that registration on the platform began on October 3, where the original tenant or their heirs can create an electronic account using the national ID number and a mobile number registered under the name of the applicant. Afterward, a confirmation text message is sent to activate access and create a password.

Khattab pointed out that the next step involves filling out a data form to obtain an alternative housing unit. Starting from the middle of this month, additional forms will be available to register information about the property, the number of residents, marital status, and other details related to the rented property.
He also mentioned that the ministry has allocated 500 automated post offices across the country to assist citizens who may face difficulties using the digital platform. The registration period will continue for three months, subject to extension. Tenants will receive text messages after submitting their data to complete the remaining procedures. He stressed that the government has ensured that the process is simple and accessible for everyone.
