The Urban Development Fund, in cooperation with the New Urban Communities Authority, has announced the qualification of five international and Egyptian alliances to take over the management and operation of the Fustat Gardens project. This announcement comes in implementation of the directives of the political leadership and under the direct guidance of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly.
Eng. Khaled Siddiq, Chairman of the Fund’s Board of Directors, stated that the decision was made after a comprehensive study of the files submitted by the alliances, in addition to conducting field visits to their sites. He added that these visits aimed to evaluate completed works and study the project’s developments in preparation for launching the operation and management phase in line with the highest international standards.

He explained that the Fustat Gardens project, which extends over an area of 500 feddans in the heart of Historic Cairo, is considered the largest of its kind as a green breathing space in the Middle East. The project is located next to prominent landmarks such as the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, Ain El-Sira Lake, the Religious Complex, and Amr Ibn Al-As Mosque, while also offering distinctive views of the Giza Pyramids, the Citadel of Salah El-Din, and the minarets of Cairo.
The project consists of eight main zones, including natural hills, waterways, the cultural district, archaeological areas, a Roman theatre, heritage gardens, adventure zones, in addition to commercial markets and an investment area that will host restaurants, shopping centers, and hotels.
Siddiq emphasized that the project represents a pivotal step in the path of developing Cairo’s urban environment. He pointed out that it balances the preservation of the city’s historical character with the provision of sustainable green spaces, affirming the Fund’s commitment to delivering a model experience that enhances quality of life and establishes Fustat Gardens as a prominent cultural and tourist destination for the historic capital.
