Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, issued a set of directives during his tour today of West Cairo cities. A meeting was held with the heads and officials of the development authorities of 6th of October, New October, October Gardens, Sheikh Zayed, and New Sphinx cities. The discussions focused on key work files related to the development of main roads and axes, housing projects, development of Green Belt lands, and the water and wastewater systems in these areas. Senior officials from the Ministry of Housing and the New Urban Communities Authority also participated in the meeting.
Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny emphasized that the meeting aimed to review the implementation of directives from Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly with city authority officials. The focus was on following up the plan to upgrade the efficiency of roads and main axes, alongside continuous maintenance works that would significantly improve services for citizens.

The meeting reviewed the progress of directives related to 6th of October City, including plans for developing and maintaining the road network, as well as the possibility of adjusting the activities of service centers to create new investment opportunities. Discussions also addressed the re-planning of certain areas, such as the residential-industrial-touristic buffer zone, in addition to reviewing the status of lands allocated along 26th of July Corridor and the proposed axis south of the neighborhoods.
In a related context, the minister discussed the development status of Sheikh Zayed City, covering improvements to main and secondary roads, upgrades of squares, maintenance of green spaces and landscaping, and strengthening of the sanitation system. The meeting also evaluated the performance of the system for managing and following up on national projects in the city, while reviewing available investment opportunities, including adjusting service center activities and enhancing revenue sources. Ongoing projects such as the touristic promenade, partnership projects, and the use of GIS systems to map utility networks and vacant lands were also followed up.
Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny stressed the importance of improving the visual outlook of areas overlooking the main axes in West Cairo cities by intensifying road development efforts, ensuring consistent maintenance of lighting poles and green spaces, and coordinating all site components. He further highlighted the need to complete ongoing projects within specific timeframes and prepare detailed plans for upcoming projects, while emphasizing effective coordination with responsible companies to accelerate work progress.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the minister urged city authority officials to maintain a constant on-site presence to directly follow up on project progress and to address any obstacles that might hinder the advancement of works.
