Engineer Amr Khattab, spokesperson for the Ministry of Housing, announced that the ministry has received complaints from residents of Bahr Abu Al-Mir village in Itsa Center, Fayoum, about their homes being flooded with wastewater.
He explained that ministry teams moved to study the situation on-site, noting that the existing network, which has been in place since the 1980s, was originally designed to drain agricultural wastewater. However, it was mistakenly used to dispose of sewage water, which led to water leakage and the flooding of homes located below street level.

He confirmed that the village is included in the first phase of the “Decent Life” initiative, and that the new sewage project is being executed by the National Authority with a completion rate of 97%. The project is scheduled for delivery before the end of the year to permanently resolve the issue by connecting households to the new network.
Khattab stressed that the ministry continues to follow up on complaints to improve services, in line with the directives of the political leadership to enhance infrastructure under the presidential initiative.
