Dr. Sayed Ismail, Deputy Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, held an extensive meeting to follow up on the ongoing implementation of wastewater projects in the villages of the Toud and Esna centers in Luxor Governorate. These projects are part of the Integrated Wastewater Program for some rural villages in Upper Egypt, funded by the African Development Bank under the “Results-Based Financing” system. The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Luxor Drinking Water and Wastewater Company, the heads of the implementing companies, representatives of the Project Management Unit at the Ministry, as well as consulting offices participating in the project.
During the meeting, the progress of each project in Luxor Governorate was reviewed, with a focus on the contractors’ commitment to the required procedures and the completion of works according to approved schedules. The discussions also addressed ways to accelerate overcoming obstacles hindering implementation in some cases.

Dr. Sayed Ismail stressed the importance of strengthening technical teams and providing the necessary equipment while working in parallel across the various projects to ensure the completion of all components within the specified timeframe. He also called for enhanced continuous coordination between the Project Management Unit, the Luxor Drinking Water Company, and the contractors to resolve any challenges that may affect the workflow. Furthermore, he emphasized the necessity of holding weekly meetings to monitor progress across all projects and to establish precise performance indicators to measure the level of achievement.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Dr. Sayed Ismail expressed the Ministry of Housing’s commitment to implementing the directives of the political leadership to accelerate the delivery of drinking water and wastewater services to residents in villages across the republic. He underlined the state’s keenness to improve citizens’ living standards by pushing forward the pace of work and adhering to the specified deadlines for project completion.
