Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, emphasized the importance of expediting procedures for the adjustment requests submitted by citizens, in addition to following up on developments related to the legalization of lands that have been added to expand the scope of a number of new cities affiliated with the New Urban Communities Authority.
The Minister called for the establishment of precise timelines to monitor progress rates and enhance coordination between the various agencies in the cities and the sectors affiliated with the Authority, while ensuring that the relevant entities adhere to the specified schedules. He also stressed the need to focus on accuracy and speed of implementation, alongside continuous monitoring of this vital file, and to address any challenges that might hinder progress in order to serve the public interest, safeguard citizens’ rights, and ensure comprehensive development.

In this context, Engineer Ahmed Ali, Deputy Chairman of the Authority for Real Estate and Commercial Affairs, held two consecutive meetings with the central unit responsible for land policies in newly added areas. The meetings took place at the headquarters of the New Obour City and El Shorouk City authorities. These sessions were dedicated to reviewing the implementation of procedures and plans related to this critical file.
During the meetings, the execution status of the land legalization files within the jurisdictions of New Obour and El Shorouk was discussed, along with key legal, technical, and procedural challenges facing this process. The aim was to establish practical mechanisms that accelerate the completion of procedures while ensuring equal protection of both state and citizens’ rights.
The discussions also covered the achieved progress rates in studying citizens’ submitted requests and setting a plan for completing the remaining work in the upcoming phases. In addition, the implementation status of infrastructure projects—including water, sanitation, and roads—was reviewed, with a focus on identifying field obstacles and proposing solutions. Emphasis was placed on the importance of considering the social dimension and safeguarding the rights of small landowners in all steps taken.
