Housing: A Delegation from the Aga Khan Foundation Visits Al-Azbakeya Garden to Study Participation in Its Management and Operation

A delegation from the Aga Khan Foundation visited Al-Azbakeya Garden to explore the possibility of participating in its management and operation, following the successful example of Al-Azhar Park as part of the foundation’s Historic Cities Program. Al-Azhar Park is considered a distinguished model of urban renewal, having been presented as a gift to the city of Cairo, making the Al-Azbakeya Garden project a similar opportunity to enhance the urban environment.

The visit was attended by several officials, most notably Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo, Dr. Abdelkhaleq Ibrahim, Assistant Minister of Housing, and Engineer Mona Abdel-Salam, Head of the Maspero Development Authority. Also present were Mr. Louis Monreal, Director-General of the Aga Khan Foundation in Geneva, and Mr. Sherif El-Arian, CEO of the Foundation’s cultural services in Egypt. The tour focused on monitoring development efforts in Khedivial Cairo in general and Al-Azbakeya Garden in particular, as part of broader urban improvement efforts aimed at enriching cultural and heritage experiences.
