Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, confirmed that the issue of old rent is one of the most significant matters currently under the ministry’s focus. He explained that starting in October, cases will be classified according to individuals’ income levels, which will make it possible to assign suitable rent categories for senior citizens based on their income bracket. Options such as ownership rent and mortgage financing will also be offered.
El-Sherbiny pointed out that social housing announcements are released periodically, adding that the latest announcement was issued in August and will remain open until mid-October as part of the “Housing for All Egyptians” project.
He also confirmed that the ministry has completed the delivery of the tenth phase of housing projects and is continuing work on the remaining units, the handover of which began about a month ago.
Regarding the matter of Zamalek Club land, the minister emphasized the importance of the club as a prestigious institution with significant recognition and a large fan base. He explained that the case was handled in cooperation with Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, with a memorandum submitted on the issue to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
He added that communication was made with Hussein Labib, head of the temporary committee managing the club, confirming that no disputes exist, while highlighting that a solution is near. This may include providing an alternative plot of land for the club in the Fifth Settlement area.
