President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, accompanied by First Lady Entissar El-Sisi, received today at Al-Ittihadiya Palace the President of the Republic of Singapore, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, and his wife Jane Yumiko Ittogi, on the occasion of the Singaporean President’s official visit to Egypt.
Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, Spokesman for the Presidency, explained that the official reception ceremony began immediately upon the arrival of the distinguished guest and his wife to the palace, where the Guard of Honor presented the formal salute and the national anthems of Egypt and Singapore were played. Afterwards, an official photo was taken of both Presidents, followed by a closed bilateral meeting and then an expanded session of talks with the participation of both countries’ delegations.
During the discussions, President El-Sisi affirmed Egypt’s keenness to strengthen bilateral relations with Singapore, pointing to the significant opportunities available to expand economic and investment cooperation, especially in light of Egypt’s promising investment climate that has attracted growing interest from Singaporean companies in recent years. The talks also covered a wide range of topics including trade, port management, digital transformation, and cultural development.
The Singaporean President expressed his appreciation for the role of Al-Azhar in spreading and teaching the values of Islam to Singaporean students, while also praising the developmental progress Egypt has achieved and the new investment opportunities it provides. In this context, he extended an invitation to President El-Sisi to visit Singapore next year on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. President El-Sisi welcomed the invitation, confirming his anticipation for this special visit.
