Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, conducted an inspection of several projects under the “Housing for All Egyptians” initiative, targeting both low- and middle-income groups in various new cities. These projects reflect the state’s efforts to provide housing units for all segments of the population, including alternative units designated for residents of informal settlements.
The Minister explained that the ministry’s housing strategy is based on three main pillars. The first focuses on supporting low-income citizens through subsidized social housing units. The second involves offering units tailored to the needs of middle-income earners. The third pillar is the provision of premium residential units at market prices for high-income groups, with the revenues from these units being used to fund housing for the most vulnerable groups.
He emphasized the need to accelerate work on ongoing projects and to strictly adhere to the established timelines. The minister also highlighted the importance of balancing the construction of residential buildings with the development of accompanying service projects to ensure a fully integrated living environment for residents.
In this context, Engineer Mohamed Abdel-Maqsoud, Head of the New October City Authority, announced the progress of the “Housing for All Egyptians” presidential initiative, specifically the sixth phase of the project in the city. This phase includes 55,000 residential units with a total investment exceeding EGP 32 billion. Gradual delivery of these units is expected to begin in October.
Meanwhile, Engineer Ahmed Rashad, Head of the Obour City Development Authority, carried out an inspection tour of the second phase of the “Rawdat Al-Obour” project. This project represents a comprehensive urban development with multiple uses. It includes the construction of 134 buildings featuring over 5,000 residential, commercial, and administrative units, spanning approximately 200 feddans (acres).
During his tour, the head of the Obour Authority reviewed the progress of internal and external finishing works as well as general site coordination, particularly in areas surrounding El Salam Stadium. He stressed the importance of complying with technical specifications and timelines to ensure the highest quality standards upon delivery.
