Engineer Sherif El Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, chaired a meeting of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Tourism Development. The meeting focused on reviewing work files and tracking the progress of tourism development projects. Board members attended in person, while some participated via video conference, along with officials from the Ministry of Housing.
During the meeting, the efforts of the General Authority for Tourism Development were reviewed for the period from July 1, 2024, to May 15, 2025. These efforts were undertaken within the framework of policies and mechanisms approved by the Board of Directors, aimed at stimulating the settlement of outstanding obligations by tourism development and investment companies.
The meeting also addressed the facilitations provided for exemption from late payment penalties by 80% if payments are made within a specific period. These measures have had a positive impact by balancing revenues and surpluses and supporting the momentum of tourism development.
The Board of Directors of the General Authority for Tourism Development reviewed the progress report on project implementation for the first quarter of 2025, which included 572 major projects, 505 limited-scale development projects, and 67 integrated development projects. The meeting also discussed the results of the debt settlement facilitation initiative for 209 companies, efforts to update the Authority’s organizational structure, and the project for issuing the executive regulations for the management and utilization of lands allocated to the Authority.
