The Sohag Drinking Water and Wastewater Company has announced its intention to utilize up to 5,000 square meters of its assets across the governorate for commercial activities.
According to sources within the company, an auction is scheduled to be held on April 13th to allocate these plots of land. The total area is divided into five parcels. The first plot, measuring 1,000 square meters, is located near the Sohag West Water Station and is designated for the development of a commercial mall and retail stores. The second plot, spanning 500 square meters, is also earmarked for establishing a commercial mall.
Additionally, the third plot covers 3,000 square meters at the Sohag West Water Intake site and is intended for the construction of a parking garage and café. The auction also includes a 246-square-meter area at the administrative building of the Gerga Water Branch, designated for a commercial mall. Moreover, a 180-square-meter plot at the old Sayeda Aisha intake site in the Gerga Branch is available for rent, intended for the development of a restaurant and café.
The Planning and Budget Committee of the House of Representatives has approved an increase of EGP 150 million in investments for the Ministry of Housing to enhance services in underserved areas of Sohag. Engineer Mohamed Salah El-Din Abdel Ghaffar, Chairman of the Sohag Drinking Water and Wastewater Company, confirmed that wastewater services have been extended to areas covering 35,178 meters, and drinking water networks extended over 80,218 meters. He urged residents facing service shortages to submit requests for utility connections along with the necessary regulatory approvals to ensure comprehensive coverage.
