Mai Abdel Hamid, CEO of the Social Housing and Real Estate Finance Support Fund, clarified the status of applicants who fall outside the priority categories in the “Housing for All Egyptians 5” project.
During a phone interview on the Extra News channel, Abdel Hamid explained that the project’s terms and conditions specify that if the number of applicants exceeds the available housing units, a priority system—approved by the Cabinet—will be applied.
She added that the prioritization for low-income housing is organized as follows: first, married applicants with dependents; second, married applicants without dependents; and lastly, single applicants. Abdel Hamid noted that if the number of married applicants with dependents exceeds the number of available units, priority will be given to older families with fewer children.
Abdel Hamid also stated that the Fund had offered 79,000 housing units, attracting 575,000 applicants who paid the required down payment. After screening, it was found that 133,000 applicants did not meet the eligibility criteria, while the rest fulfilled the requirements.
She confirmed that applicants who were not allocated housing due to not meeting the priority conditions will receive messages informing them of their status. These applicants will have the option to withdraw their submitted payments and will also be given priority in future housing announcements.
