Sisi Receives Phone Call from Macron – Presidential Statement Reveals Details

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a phone call today with French President Emmanuel Macron, during which the two leaders discussed key bilateral and regional issues of mutual concern.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, stated that the conversation touched on the strong and strategic relationship between Egypt and France, as well as ways to build on the outcomes of the French President’s recent visit to Cairo. Particular emphasis was placed on enhancing cooperation in the economic, trade, and investment sectors to serve the shared interests of both countries.

The spokesperson added that the call also addressed Egypt’s ongoing mediation efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The discussion included steps toward facilitating the exchange of hostages and detainees. Both presidents emphasized the critical need to ensure adequate and appropriate delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza’s residents amid the current crisis.

President Macron expressed his full support for Egypt’s efforts in this regard. Both leaders reaffirmed the importance of reaching a just and comprehensive resolution to the Palestinian issue in accordance with international legitimacy and resolutions.

In this context, President El-Sisi welcomed President Macron’s recent announcement of France’s intention to officially recognize the State of Palestine during the high-level segment of the United Nations General Assembly scheduled for next September in New York. El-Sisi stressed that this move reflects France’s enduring commitment to advancing the implementation of the two-state solution as a foundational approach to achieving the aspirations of both the Palestinian and Israeli peoples for lasting peace and stability in the region.

The official spokesperson also noted that the phone call included discussions on Egypt’s support for the joint initiative by France and Saudi Arabia. This initiative aims to organize a high-level international conference on the peaceful resolution of the Palestinian issue, which is set to be held in New York later this July.
