Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Russian President Vladimir Putin will participate tomorrow via video conference in a ceremony for the installation of the reactor pressure vessel for the first nuclear unit at the El Dabaa Nuclear Plant. The event will also include the signing of a nuclear fuel purchase order, a key step in the El Dabaa nuclear project.
The spokesperson for the Egyptian presidency explained that the event coincides with Egypt’s celebration of Nuclear Energy Day on November 19, which commemorates the signing of the agreement with Russia to build and operate the plant—a symbol marking the start of Egypt’s peaceful nuclear program.

He confirmed that the participation of Sisi and Putin reflects the depth of relations between the two countries and represents the continuation of strategic cooperation in major projects, from the High Dam to the El Dabaa Plant. El Dabaa Nuclear Plant, Egypt’s first nuclear facility, is located in the city of El Dabaa on the Mediterranean coast, 300 kilometers northwest of Cairo.
Egypt and Russia signed the agreement to build the plant in November 2015, and the contracts came into effect in December 2017 during Putin’s visit to Cairo.
