Senator Mohammed Sabry, member of the Egyptian Senate and the Central Secretariat of the Future of the Nation Party, commended Minister Sherif El Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, for his decision to revoke the planning and building regulations issued in March 2021 and revert to the provisions of the Building Law. Sabry noted that this decision aligns with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives and reflects the Egyptian state’s commitment to simplifying procedures and removing obstacles for citizens. It also continues efforts to streamline building permit processes, alleviating burdens on the public.
Sabry, who had previously advocated for this decision during Housing and Local Administration Committee meetings in the Senate, emphasized that it would directly revive the construction sector, positively impacting Egypt’s economic growth and creating a more attractive investment environment. He pointed out that the now-revoked regulations had imposed significant financial burdens on citizens and investors, increasing construction costs and delaying projects, which had hampered development efforts.
The decision is expected to invigorate the real estate market by simplifying procedures and increasing the supply of housing units. Sabry also highlighted that it would generate new employment opportunities through heightened demand for construction materials, thereby boosting job creation in the sector.
The senator further stressed that the decision would contribute to social stability by making affordable housing more accessible to citizens. He praised the Ministry of Housing for its efforts in easing procedures and called for more initiatives aimed at simplifying construction processes and reducing costs for the public. Sabry concluded by expressing confidence that the decision would bring widespread benefits to both the nation and its citizens, urging the government to continue its efforts in this direction.
