President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to completing the development of Ahl al-Bayt sites, including mosques.
This statement came during President El-Sisi’s early morning visit to Sayyida Nafisa Mosque to inaugurate its renovation works. He was accompanied by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Minister of Awqaf Dr. Osama Al-Azhari, Governor of Cairo Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Deputy of Al-Azhar Dr. Mohamed Al-Duwaini, Grand Mufti Dr. Nazir Ayad, and Major General Ahmed Al-Azazi, Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority.
Presidential Spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shinawy stated that President El-Sisi toured the mosque and received a briefing from Major General Ahmed Al-Azazi regarding the renovation efforts undertaken by the Engineering Authority. These efforts are part of the state’s plan to restore the historical mosques of Ahl al-Bayt as part of the broader development of Historic Cairo.
The spokesperson added that President El-Sisi highlighted Egyptians’ deep attachment to the family of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), reflecting their recognition of their revered status. The president also prayed for continued security, stability, and prosperity for the Egyptian people during the holy month of Ramadan and for the well-being of the Arab and Islamic nations.
Ambassador Mohamed El-Shinawy further mentioned that President El-Sisi performed the Fajr (dawn) prayer at the mosque and concluded his visit with a visit to the tomb of Sayyida Nafisa.
