Rafah is a Crossing for Individuals, and Its Operation Is Not Solely Dependent on the Egyptian Side

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi emphasized that providing humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip has been a key issue discussed over the past period. He highlighted Egypt’s commitment to facilitating the entry of the largest possible quantity of aid over the last 21 months, clarifying that the Rafah crossing is designated for individual passage and its operation relies on coordination between the Egyptian side and the relevant authorities inside Gaza.

In a televised address on Monday regarding the situation in Gaza, President El-Sisi explained that five crossings connect the Strip—either from Egyptian territory or from within Palestinian areas. He noted that the volume of aid and the number of trucks ready to transport it to Gaza since the beginning of the crisis has been substantial. He firmly stressed that Egypt cannot and will not block the entry of such aid, as doing so would contradict the nation’s ethical values, national principles, current obligations, and humanitarian responsibilities.

President El-Sisi further emphasized that the delivery of aid requires coordination with the other party within Gaza to ensure the opening of the Rafah crossing and the proper reception and passage of humanitarian supplies into the territory. He noted that this initiative is part of a broader three-pronged effort: delivering humanitarian aid, achieving a ceasefire, and securing the release of hostages.

Speaking directly to the Egyptian people, President El-Sisi reassured citizens by stating: “I want to assure you all that Egypt will never take a negative stance toward our Palestinian brothers. Despite the severity and complexity of the situation, Egypt remains unwavering in its honorable and sincere role—a role that will not change.” He added that Egypt is determined to find solutions that ease the tensions and escalation, ultimately aiming to end the war and reach a final resolution to the crisis.

At the conclusion of his speech, President El-Sisi called on all nations—including European Union member states, the United States of America, and Arab countries—to intensify their efforts during this critical phase to stop military operations, deliver humanitarian assistance, and work seriously toward resolving the current crisis.

He also issued a special appeal to U.S. President Donald Trump, acknowledging his personal influence and international standing, urging him to intensify efforts to end the war and ensure the entry of essential humanitarian aid. He affirmed that the time has come to put an end to this conflict.
