Proposal for a Real Estate Market Regulatory Authority
Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, proposed establishing an authority dedicated to regulating the real estate market.
During a meeting with the Prime Minister, the minister explained that the objectives of the proposed authority include implementing a comprehensive real estate database and introducing a unified identification number for each property.
The plan also includes creating an electronic real estate transaction and registration platform. Additionally, it aims to regulate the work of real estate brokers by issuing licenses for practicing the profession. This regulatory initiative seeks to enhance Egypt’s real estate market, increase state revenues, protect all stakeholders’ rights, and safeguard national interests.
Egyptian Real Estate Platform
During the meeting, significant attention was given to the Egyptian Real Estate Platform and its operational mechanisms. The discussion also covered international experiences in similar initiatives and the expected benefits and impact of launching such a platform on Egypt’s real estate sector.
Moreover, the meeting highlighted the methods the Ministry of Housing adopted in offering real estate products, the target demographics for these offerings, and the classification of participants in the Egyptian real estate market.
