Engineer Ashraf Fathi Mahmoud, Head of the New Damietta City Authority, held a meeting with representatives of Arab Contractors Company and other firms involved in road and utility projects in the city. The meeting, attended by officials from the city authority, aimed to review project progress and address any challenges, in line with directives from Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, regarding regular follow-ups on national projects in new cities.
The discussion included updates on the expansion of the city’s water treatment plant and the installation of a feeder pipeline, implemented by Arab Contractors Company. All observations were reviewed to ensure that the works adhere to engineering standards and the agreed timeline.
Engineer Mahmoud emphasized the importance of continued cooperation between the supervisory body and the company to ensure the highest standards of quality. He highlighted the significance of creating a robust infrastructure to maximize the operational capacity of the water treatment plant, which is vital for supporting both current and future investments in the city.
He also urged companies working on road projects to expedite their tasks and establish clear timelines to enhance completion rates while meeting the required quality standards.
In parallel, Engineer Mahmoud inspected ongoing development and efficiency enhancement works for roads and entrances to the General Free Zone for Investment, as well as the construction of a separating wall with Damietta Port. Recent achievements include the refurbishment of customs and civil defense buildings. He stressed the need for swift completion of these projects, along with intensified landscaping and maintenance efforts to maintain the aesthetic appeal of this critical investment hub.
The inspection tour also covered ongoing development works in city squares, such as landscaping and beautification at the Engineer Hasballah El-Kafrawy Square. Engineer Mahmoud directed teams to expedite decorative column maintenance and enhance greenery in the squares to further improve the city’s visual and environmental quality.
