ToggleProgress in Housing, Infrastructure, and Services in New Minya City
Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, reviewed the status of housing, infrastructure, roads, and services projects in New Minya City, highlighting the accomplishments achieved in 2024.
Housing Projects
The minister noted that multiple housing units were implemented under the Presidential Initiative “Housing for All Egyptians”, including middle-income and free housing. In addition, several residential and investment land plots were offered to meet the demand for housing.
Engineer Ahmed Mostafa, Head of the New Minya City Authority, stated:
- 71 buildings, comprising 1,074 units, are under construction in the fourth district under the “Housing for All Egyptians – Low-Income Segment.”
- Approval has been secured for 69 buildings, encompassing 1,656 units under the “Housing for All Egyptians – Free Housing.”
- 377 units in the Sakan Misr project were allocated in the northern extension (140 feddans area), and 74 units were offered for sale.
Land and Investment Projects
In 2024, the city allocated:
- 140 plots under the ninth phase of “Beit Al-Watan” for Egyptians abroad.
- 735 plots for medium-income housing through the “Masaken” program.
- 13 investment plots were allocated for diverse activities through the Egyptian Investment Portal, and 34 plots via the Foreign Investment Portal.
Utilities and Services
Major utility projects included:
- Expansion of Main Lift Station No. 1 with associated pipelines.
- Sewer and water network developments for the 1,360 feddans area, including extensions to serve new neighborhoods.
- Construction of two sewage treatment stations (Nos. 5 and 6) for the 840 feddans extension.
Service projects encompassed the launch of 14 commercial units, two pharmacies, an administrative unit, and a bakery. Plans for a primary school and market area in social housing zones are also underway.
Roads and Green Areas
Key road projects included:
- Southern road and fourth district upgrades.
- A 4.5 km road linking Army Road to the city.
- Road expansions in tourist and premium zones, and paving in residential extensions (140 and 400 feddans areas).
Efforts to enhance green spaces involved landscaping 140 feddans, including irrigation systems for social housing areas.
Electrical and Infrastructure Enhancements
The city completed:
- Electrical networks for key residential districts.
- Expansion of the power station with additional distribution cells.
