Prime Minister Follows Up on the Presidential Initiative “Housing for All Egyptians”

Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting to follow up on the financing and implementation of the presidential initiative “Housing for All Egyptians” and the progress of utility installations and the operation of service buildings. Several concerned ministers attended the meeting, during which Madbouly emphasized the initiative’s importance, particularly regarding social housing projects aimed at low-income citizens.

At the meeting, the Prime Minister discussed the availability of necessary funding to sustain the construction of housing units and ensure the provision of utilities and the operation of service buildings. The Minister of Housing reaffirmed the significant focus on residential units allocated for low- and middle-income segments, emphasizing green housing concepts in new projects to ensure sustainability.

Mai Abdel Hamid presented an update on the execution status of housing units, revealing that approximately one million low-income housing units have been completed. Additionally, 978,000 units have been offered, with another 23,000 being prepared for launch. So far, 639,000 of the available units have been allocated. The initiative also includes 54,600 green housing units across several new cities such as New Obour, 10th of Ramadan, New October, Capital Gardens, Badr, New Aswan, and Sadat City.

During the meeting, Abdel Hamid also addressed real estate financing and financial support, noting that 620,407 people have benefited from these services since 2014. Discussions covered the progress of housing unit construction in new cities and the collection of dues for the Social Housing Fund. At the end of the meeting, the Prime Minister instructed the preparation of detailed plans for the upcoming housing unit offerings and emphasized the continued coordination between ministries to ensure utility meters are installed before handovers. He also directed authorities to monitor the operation of service buildings under the “Housing for All Egyptians” initiative to accelerate the allocation process for applicants.
