President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, issued an official statement on the occasion of launching the fifth edition of the Week for Post-Conflict Reconstruction and Development.
President Sisi indicated that, in his capacity as the official responsible for the Reconstruction and Development Portfolio at the African Union, he is pleased to announce the start of the activities of the fifth edition of the African Union Week for Post-Conflict Reconstruction and Development Awareness. The event will be held from 17 to 23 November 2025 under the theme: “Rebuilding Life After Conflict Through Restorative Justice,” with Cairo hosting the main activities this year.

The President explained that the African continent faces complex and intertwined security and development challenges, including internal conflicts, terrorism, transnational crimes, humanitarian crises, poverty, and low education rates.
He added that these challenges are compounded by emerging issues such as climate change and the rapid evolution of modern technologies. He also pointed out that Africa is significantly affected by global transformations and the current state of polarization and international competition, which deepens fragility and heightens existing security and development challenges.
President Sisi stressed that these circumstances hinder the major and sincere efforts exerted by African countries to implement the African Union’s ambitious strategies in line with the African Development Agenda 2063, aiming to achieve stability, prosperity, and well-being for the peoples of the continent.
