President El-Sisi: The Immediate Start of Gaza Reconstruction is Essential Following a Ceasefire

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi today received Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, in the presence of Major General Hassan Rashad, Director of General Intelligence, and Mr. Khalfan bin Ali bin Khalfan Al Kaabi, Head of State Security in Qatar.

According to statements by Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, Official Spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, the Qatari Prime Minister conveyed the greetings of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, to President El-Sisi. He also emphasized the Qatari leadership’s keenness to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields, highlighting the importance of developing joint investment projects to meet the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples. For his part, President El-Sisi expressed his deep appreciation for Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, affirming the shared will to advance Egypt-Qatar relations toward broader horizons that align with mutual hopes and current regional and international challenges.

The Spokesman noted that the meeting witnessed agreement on the importance of joint Egyptian-Qatari efforts, in coordination with the United States, to reach an agreement that guarantees an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The talks also stressed the urgent need to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid as quickly as possible while ensuring the release of hostages and detainees. Both sides reiterated their rejection of any attempts to re-impose military occupation on the Strip or to displace Palestinians from their land.

During the meeting, both parties underlined that establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with international legitimacy resolutions, remains the only viable option for achieving lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.

In this context, President El-Sisi stressed the need to swiftly launch the reconstruction process in Gaza immediately following a ceasefire. He also pointed to ongoing preparations for convening the Cairo International Conference for Reconstruction in coordination with the Palestinian government and the United Nations.
