President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, during which they discussed the latest developments in the regional situation. President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s firm rejection of any attempts to widen the scope of the ongoing conflict in the region. He emphasized the urgent need to halt Israeli military operations and warned of the grave consequences that the continuation of the current situation could have on the peoples of the region.
The official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency confirmed that President El-Sisi stressed the vital role of the international community in urging all regional parties to take responsibility and work towards de-escalation. He affirmed that peaceful solutions remain the only viable path to achieving lasting security and stability.
President El-Sisi also underlined the necessity of resuming U.S.-Iran negotiations under the mediation of the Sultanate of Oman. Furthermore, he called for the establishment of a Middle East free of weapons of mass destruction.
In addition, he reaffirmed that a just solution to the Palestinian issue is essential to ensuring lasting peace. This includes an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the release of hostages, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
