President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi conducted a tour of Al-Khair Farm to oversee the wheat harvest as part of the 2025 season. During the visit, he listened to a briefing from Colonel Dr. Baha El-Din El-Ghannam, Executive Director of the Egypt’s Future Authority, who explained that the wheat cultivated at the farm is part of a seed multiplication initiative in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture. He also noted that the authority is involved in various types of agriculture, highlighting that the sugar beet harvest takes approximately 210 days. He emphasized the sector’s high productivity and ongoing contracts with the Ministry of Supply. He also pointed out that contracts are being signed with private sector companies in this context.
Colonel Dr. Baha El-Ghannam, Executive Director of the Egypt’s Future for Sustainable Development Authority, delivered a speech outlining the authority’s activities and projects. This included updates on the “Future of Egypt Industrial City” project in the field of agricultural manufacturing. The project aims to reclaim 4.5 million feddans of land, with an additional 800,000 feddans to be added by September 2025, bringing the total arable land in Egypt to 13.5 million feddans by 2027. The objective is to achieve food security, boost exports, and reduce the approximately $20 billion annual bill for food imports.
The speech also covered the authority’s efforts to develop the livestock, poultry, and fisheries sectors, as well as its activities in mining and quarry resource utilization. Additionally, 30% of shares in its affiliated companies have been floated on the stock exchange to promote effective participation. The affiliated companies generate an annual business volume of around EGP 100 billion across diverse sectors including transport and petrochemicals. The authority’s activities in renewable energy production, digital transformation, construction of grain silos, and factories for dryers and feed were also showcased.
During the event, the President inaugurated the harvest season for several agricultural sectors, including wheat and sugar beet, and officially opened the headquarters of the Egypt’s Future for Sustainable Development Authority.
