President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today in the city of Alamein with Alexey Likhachev, Director General of the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation “Rosatom.” The meeting was attended by Dr. Andrey Petrov, Head of Atomstroyexport Company, Russian Ambassador to Egypt Georgiy Borisenko, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Eng. Mahmoud Esmat, and Dr. Sherif Helmy Mahmoud, Chairman of the Nuclear Power Plants Authority.
According to the Spokesperson for the Presidency of the Republic, this meeting comes within the framework of the visit by the Director General of Rosatom to Egypt. During this visit, an official supplementary agreement between Egypt and Russia will be signed with the Ministry of Electricity concerning the construction of the Dabaa nuclear power plant and its associated physical protection systems.
Additionally, a complementary contract will be signed between the head of Atomstroyexport and the Chairman of the Nuclear Power Plants Authority, covering the plant’s construction details, including design, procurement, and execution phases.
Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the presidential spokesperson, added that the meeting reviewed the latest developments in the establishment of the Dabaa nuclear power plant intended for civilian purposes, as well as all related technical and operational aspects.
