President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a meeting with Lieutenant General Mokhtar Abdel Latif, Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI), where he was briefed on the organization’s latest activities and projects. Lieutenant General Abdel Latif explained that the AOI is implementing a comprehensive strategy aimed at deepening local manufacturing and increasing exports, in close cooperation with the private sector. President El-Sisi emphasized the strategic importance of the AOI in strengthening local manufacturing capabilities and conserving foreign currency to support the national economy. The meeting also included a review of cooperation frameworks with international companies in the automotive industry.
President El-Sisi inspected locally manufactured Citroën C4X vehicles, which are produced with a 45% local component rate at the AOI’s facilities in cooperation with the Arab American Vehicles Company and the French group Stellantis. Planning for the production of this model began in August 2023, with prototype production starting in March 2025. The target is to produce 7,000 vehicles annually over a four-year period. In addition, preparations are underway for a new vehicle production project in partnership with Stellantis, scheduled to begin by the end of 2026, with a total output of 240,000 vehicles. The president directed that cooperation with private sector companies be strengthened to support the localization of the automotive industry and increase the proportion of locally manufactured components.
