President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a phone call today with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, the official spokesperson for the Presidency, stated that President El-Sisi congratulated Prime Minister Carney on his recent victory in the general elections, reflecting the trust of the Canadian voters. The President also expressed his sincere wishes for Carney’s success, emphasizing Egypt’s keenness to strengthen cooperation with the Canadian government in a manner that serves the interests of both friendly nations.
The spokesperson added that the call addressed ways to enhance bilateral relations, particularly in the economic, trade, and investment sectors, to the mutual benefit of both countries. Both leaders affirmed their commitment to working together to explore opportunities for cooperation across various areas of mutual interest.
The official spokesperson also noted that the conversation touched on regional developments and efforts to restore stability in the region. President El-Sisi reviewed Egypt’s efforts to broker a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, highlighting the importance of capitalizing on the current regional calm to reach an agreement and deliver urgent humanitarian aid to the area. He stressed that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, remains the only guarantee for sustainable stability in the Middle East.
