On Tuesday evening, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a phone call with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar. During the call, El-Sisi affirmed Egypt’s full support for the measures taken by Qatar to protect its security and stability.
According to the official spokesperson of the Egyptian presidency, El-Sisi expressed Egypt’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the hostile act carried out by Israel against Qatar, stressing Egypt’s rejection of any violation that undermines Qatari sovereignty.
Presidential spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawi clarified that the Egyptian President reaffirmed Egypt’s full solidarity—both leadership and people—with Qatar in confronting this blatant violation that contravenes international law and the United Nations Charter.
He described the attack as a provocative assault on a sisterly Arab state and an unacceptable threat to its security and territorial integrity, while reiterating Egypt’s support for the measures Qatar is taking to preserve its safety and security.
For his part, the Emir of Qatar expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s stance in standing by his country, valuing the fraternal relations between the two nations and peoples. He also briefed El-Sisi on the latest developments following the Israeli attack. Both sides agreed on the necessity for the international community to move swiftly and assume its responsibilities regarding this clear Israeli aggression, calling for accountability of those responsible and ensuring that such violations infringing upon state sovereignty are not repeated, in order to safeguard regional and international security.
