Parliament Session to Discuss the Unified National ID Law for Real Estate

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, participated in the general session of the House of Representatives, chaired by Counselor Ahmed Saad El-Din, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, to discuss the draft law for the establishment of the Unified National ID Database for Real Estate. The session was also attended by Counselor Mahmoud Fawzy, Minister of Parliamentary, Legal Affairs, and Political Communication.

At the beginning of his speech, Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny expressed his happiness at being present under the Egyptian Parliament’s dome, noting his ongoing meetings with members of Parliament and extending his thanks to the attendees for their fruitful efforts on various issues. He emphasized his eagerness to listen to the interventions of the members during the session, describing them as productive.

Parliament Session to Discuss the Unified National ID Law for Real Estate

El-Sherbiny pointed out that the Ministry of Housing takes all these inputs into serious consideration, highlighting that the Unified National ID Law for Real Estate comes within the framework of directives from His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi as part of the New Republic’s vision and its focus on digital transformation.

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny affirmed that the government, through the Ministries of Housing and Communications, is working on applying digital transformation to all dealings, in conjunction with the Unified National ID Law for Real Estate project.

He explained that the Egypt Real Estate Platform has been completed as a first step in implementing this law, noting that 400,000 housing units have been offered in cooperation with the platform. El-Sherbiny stated that this offering represents the first practical application of the law and aims to establish a unified database for real estate in Egypt, including information regarding property reconciliation and real estate registration.

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny also extended his thanks to Counselor Mahmoud Fawzy for his intervention during the parliamentary session, highlighting the positive benefits of the Unified National ID Law for Real Estate, especially for foreign investors. He clarified that this law contributes to facilitating real estate registration in Egypt in line with the government’s direction. He further announced the creation of a new unit within the Ministry of Housing to regulate the real estate market, stressing the need to hold an additional explanatory session regarding the draft law. In conclusion, he reaffirmed the Ministry of Housing’s commitment to cooperating with development partners.
