Parliament Discusses Ministry of Housing Policies and Urban Development Plans

The House of Representatives, chaired by Speaker Dr. Hanafi Gebali, held a general session today, during which Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, presented a comprehensive overview of the ministry’s strategies and future plans.

    • Development of existing new cities.
    • Establishment of fourth-generation cities along developmental axes.
    • Addressing developmental gaps through upgrading informal settlements and unplanned areas.
  2. Resolving Building Violations:
    • Outlined strategies to expedite the resolution of construction violation cases and address associated challenges.
  3. Expanding Housing Programs:
    • Increasing the availability of social and middle-income housing units to meet citizens’ needs.
    • Supporting sustainable development through efficient housing policies.

Other Discussions in the Session:

The parliament also reviewed a report by the joint committee of the Constitutional and Legislative Affairs Committee and the Human Rights Committee regarding the draft Criminal Procedures Law. Members provided their initial feedback and observations on the proposed legislation.
