The New Sohag City Authority continues to implement a comprehensive development plan to enhance the road network, in line with directives from the Minister of Housing, Sherif El Sherbiny. The Head of the Authority, Engineer Sherif Abdel-Badea, confirmed that work is underway to complete the surface layer of the road leading to the industrial zone, which serves several sectors including industrial areas, social housing, the electronic inspection station, and the upcoming driving school.
Sherif explained that the project is being carried out under the supervision of the Authority’s engineers and supervisors, with a total cost of EGP 67 million. Additionally, work has begun on the rehabilitation and development of the city’s southwestern entrance, which connects to the Cairo-Aswan Western Desert Road. This section had deteriorated due to over fifteen years of use and increased traffic load. The project is being implemented by the Cooperative Association for Construction and Development in Assiut, with a cost of up to EGP 42 million.
Sherif added that these projects fall within the current plan to upgrade the internal road network of New Sohag City, aiming to improve transportation efficiency and accommodate rapid urban expansion. He also emphasized that the Authority is closely monitoring the execution on-site to ensure adherence to the highest quality standards and the timely delivery of projects.
