He stressed Egypt’s ongoing efforts to push Israel to withdraw from Lebanese territories and to respect the agreement on the cessation of hostilities. El-Sisi also called on the international community to contribute to Lebanon’s reconstruction in order to restore its path toward peace.
During his talks with President Aoun, El-Sisi also addressed the situation in the Gaza Strip, underscoring the urgent need to end the aggression on the territory. He urged the international community to intensify its efforts and mobilize resources for the reconstruction of Gaza, without displacing its population, and to empower the Palestinian Authority to return to the Strip. He further emphasized the importance of broadening international recognition of the Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, as the path to peace and stability.
The discussions also included the situation in Syria, where both presidents reaffirmed their support for the Syrian people and the need for a comprehensive political process.
