Official Reception, Bilateral Talks, and Press Conference Between President El-Sisi and His Lebanese Counterpart

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Lebanese President Joseph Aoun at Al-Ittihadiya Palace, where official reception ceremonies were held. The two presidents held a closed-door meeting followed by expanded talks that focused on strengthening bilateral relations in the fields of economy, infrastructure, and energy. The discussions also addressed reconstruction efforts and supporting Lebanon’s stability. A joint press conference was held to present the outcomes of the talks, during which President El-Sisi emphasized the deep-rooted historical ties between Egypt and Lebanon, highlighting the significance of the visit.

President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast support for Lebanon in achieving stability and safeguarding its sovereignty, while rejecting Israel’s repeated violations. He stressed Egypt’s ongoing efforts to push Israel to withdraw from Lebanese territories and to respect the agreement on the cessation of hostilities. El-Sisi also called on the international community to contribute to Lebanon’s reconstruction in order to restore its path toward peace.

During his talks with President Aoun, El-Sisi also addressed the situation in the Gaza Strip, underscoring the urgent need to end the aggression on the territory. He urged the international community to intensify its efforts and mobilize resources for the reconstruction of Gaza, without displacing its population, and to empower the Palestinian Authority to return to the Strip. He further emphasized the importance of broadening international recognition of the Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, as the path to peace and stability.

The discussions also included the situation in Syria, where both presidents reaffirmed their support for the Syrian people and the need for a comprehensive political process. They condemned Israeli attacks on Syrian sovereignty and called for Israel’s withdrawal from the occupied territories. In conclusion, President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s support for Lebanon in its efforts to preserve its stability.
