Obour City Authority Follows Up Linking Two Power Stations and Upgrading the Industrial Zone’s Sewage Line

Engineer Ahmed Rashad, Head of the Obour City Development Authority, closely monitored the ongoing implementation of a key infrastructure project that links Power Station 5 with Power Station 3. The initiative comes in line with directives from Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, to strengthen infrastructure projects as a cornerstone for achieving the targeted development in new urban cities.

Rashad explained that the project is part of a broader plan to improve services and enhance the efficiency of the city’s electrical grid. It is being implemented with an investment of approximately EGP 369 million. The authority is working in cooperation with relevant entities and El Sewedy Cables Company to install high-voltage (66 kV) cables along a 4-kilometer route. This cable route stretches from Power Station 5 through Al-Shabab Road and Industrial Zones B & G, ending at Power Station 3. The development aims to stabilize the electrical current, ensure efficient energy distribution, and serve both the industrial area and residential neighborhoods such as the Eighth District, Youth District, and the Future Housing Complex.

In parallel, Engineer Ahmed Rashad also followed up on the project to upgrade the main sewage pipeline extending from Industrial Zones B & G to the wastewater pumping station for the “Dar Misr” Phase 2 housing project, located near the Ninth District’s power station. A new sewage line is currently under construction using 600 mm diameter UPVC pipes, extending for 700 meters. The pipeline begins at the perimeter wall of Dar Misr and continues toward the recreational district and the western axis, ending at the Dar Misr sewage lift station.

The project includes the construction of 11 manholes and a water flow regulation chamber to ensure proper discharge from the primary Pump Station 7 toward the El-Gabal El-Asfar wastewater treatment plant. Rashad confirmed that the pipeline connection from the Dar Misr Phase 2 gate side has been completed, and work is now ongoing to finish the connection from the other side. He stressed the importance of restoring the construction sites to their original condition upon project completion to ease mobility and ensure uninterrupted daily life for residents.
