Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, announced the commencement of natural gas flow into the underground network of the tower area within the Central Business District (CBD) of the New Administrative Capital. This marks a key step in the preparations for operating the Central Business District. Engineer Mohamed Adel, Head of the Administrative Capital Authority, confirmed that the gas flow began after obtaining the network’s certification of readiness. He also noted that work is ongoing to complete the final layer of asphalt paving. The Authority’s head has instructed the designated committee to continue monitoring the project’s progress according to the set timeline.
Engineer Mohamed Adel pointed out that the Central Business District includes the Iconic Tower, which is considered the tallest building in Africa, standing at approximately 400 meters. The tower combines hotel, commercial, and administrative uses. It will feature a world-class hotel new to the Egyptian and African markets, along with 40 floors of office space, 10 floors of hotel suites, and 30 hotel floors, with a total built-up area of 266,000 square meters. The district also includes 10 mixed-use towers covering 806,000 square meters, with heights ranging between 80 and 175 meters, 5 residential towers comprising 1,700 housing units, and 4 crescent-shaped towers featuring diverse functions, reaching heights of up to 64 meters.
