Dr. Hend Farouh, Director of the Housing and Planning Institute under the Ministry of Planning, affirmed that the ministry provides affordable housing units for all income groups, including both residential properties and associated services. She assured applicants, saying, “Anyone who applies will receive their unit. If not now, their turn will come soon.”
Affordable Housing for All
During a phone interview on the “Six O’Clock Hour” program on Al-Hayat TV, Dr. Farouh praised the success of the Social Housing Project, which has already delivered 794,350 housing units. This success extends to other projects such as Sakan Li-Kull al-Misriyyin, Jannah, Dar Misr, and medium-income housing.
Social Housing Project
Dr. Farouh also highlighted the Social Housing Fund’s achievement in constructing 25,000 green housing units, emphasizing the transformative impact of these initiatives: “The whole country acknowledges the tremendous progress made in the field of social housing.”
She noted that over a decade ago, Egypt faced significant challenges due to a shortage of affordable housing, which led to a noticeable rise in rural-to-urban migration as services were lacking in rural areas.
A Green Shift in Housing
“We’ve moved forward by introducing green social housing and even exporting real estate,” she added. Today, a large number of people are actively monitoring the release of these housing units. Each social group can now access housing options that meet their needs for both affordable housing and essential services. In the past, not everyone could apply for housing projects, but now, all income segments have the opportunity to apply.”
