A statement from the Ministry of Housing reported that Eng. Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, has overseen the progress of infrastructure, road, and development projects in expansion areas across several new cities, including New Cairo, Sheikh Zayed, and New Obour.
El-Sherbiny emphasized the importance of diversifying activities in the expansion areas of these cities, achieving high development rates, providing adequate services, and ensuring proper planning of utilities and roads. He also stressed accelerating the pace of development in these regions.
Eng. Abdel Raouf El-Ghayti, Head of the New Cairo City Authority, inspected the implementation of public utilities (roads, water, sewage, and irrigation networks) within the Sixth Settlement area, located in the southern expansion of the city. This area is linked to highways and major roads, contributing to its development. The Sixth Settlement serves as an extension of New Cairo, covering approximately 4,800 acres and hosting diverse activities.
Eng. Ahmed Emran, Assistant Vice President of the New Urban Communities Authority for Development and City Development, conducted a field inspection of the Sheikh Zayed expansion area. He was accompanied by Eng. Marwa Hussein Amin, Head of the Sheikh Zayed City Authority, and other officials. During the visit, a detailed overview of the infrastructure projects underway was provided, followed by site visits to monitor the progress of water, sewage, and road projects, which serve existing entities and newly legalized lands under the Presidential Decrees 230 and 77 of 2017.
Emran stressed the importance of adhering to project timelines and ensuring the highest quality standards as part of the comprehensive development of new cities.
Similarly, Dr. Eng. Ahmed Ismail Gaber, Head of the New Obour City Authority, along with officials and contracting companies, inspected infrastructure projects in areas recently added to New Obour. This included a visit to the urgent project aimed at supplying water to targeted neighborhoods from the Al-Shorouk lift station, as well as progress on road construction in districts (209, 276, 350, 400, 450, 500) in the former Al-Amal area.
Gaber also highlighted the ongoing implementation of a 315mm directional drilling project under the Cairo-Ismailia Desert Road, which will connect the Al-Shorouk water line (500mm) to provide water to the service strip and 360 acres of added land in the Al-Amal area of New Obour City. He urged contracting companies to increase labor to meet project deadlines and maintain quality across all stages of execution.
