The Egyptian Gazette has published Decision No. 120 of 2025, issued by the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, regarding determining city building heights. This decision was published in Issue No. 45 on February 24, 2025.

According to Article 1 of the decision, Clause (5) of Article (26) of the Executive Regulations of the Building Law is replaced with the following provision:
Heights:
Building heights in cities shall be determined based on the regulations approved by the Supreme Council for Planning and Urban Development, as outlined in the city’s general strategic plan. Different height limits may be assigned within the same area based on the outcomes of the general strategic plan.
Regarding building heights in villages, they must not exceed the height restrictions set by the Armed Forces Operations Authority, as follows:
- For streets with a width of 4 meters or more, the maximum building height is ground floor + 2 additional floors, not exceeding 10 meters.
- For streets with a width of 6 meters or more, the maximum building height is ground floor + 3 additional floors, not exceeding 13 meters.
- For streets with a width of 8 meters or more, the maximum building height can be twice the width of the street.
Implementation of the Decision
Article 2 of the decision states that it will be published in the official gazette, the Egyptian Gazette, and will come into effect the day after its publication.
