On Saturday, September 14, 2024, Engineer Amr Khattab, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, announced the date for reserving the 2024 Social Housing units. This comes as part of the presidential initiative “Sakan lil Kol Al-Masryeen” (“Housing for All Egyptians”), which will be launched in November.
2024 Social Housing Reservation
The new offering for the 2024 Social Housing units includes a total of 70,000 units. Out of these, 60,000 units have been allocated for low-income and economically disadvantaged citizens, while 10,000 units will be made available to middle-income individuals. This distribution is aimed at providing a wider range of housing options to different income groups, addressing their diverse needs.
Details on the Social Housing Units for 2024
Khattab elaborated that the available housing units vary in size and price, with unit sizes ranging from 90 square meters to 110 square meters. The prices of these units are determined based on the applicant’s monthly income and family size. This ensures that the housing units are affordable and within reach for a wide range of citizens.
Affordable Financial Plans for Social Housing
The initiative provides financial facilities to ensure the beneficiaries can comfortably meet their payment obligations. These financial plans are designed to prevent payment defaults, making it easier for citizens to afford their housing without financial strain. The payment structures will include long-term installment plans, adjusted to the financial capabilities of the applicants, providing an accessible route to homeownership.
Diverse Locations for Social Housing Units
According to Engineer Sherif El Sherbini, the Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, the 2024 Social Housing units will be distributed across various regions nationwide. This broad geographical distribution ensures that the housing needs of low and middle-income citizens are met across the country, contributing to urban development and helping to balance population distribution in Egypt.
The upcoming November launch of the “Housing for All Egyptians” initiative underscores the Egyptian government’s commitment to supporting affordable housing solutions for its citizens, addressing the increasing demand for residential units, and promoting sustainable urban growth throughout the country.
