Minister Sherif El Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, has announced that the committee formed within the Ministry to address inquiries related to Law No. 187 of 2023, concerning the reconciliation of building violations and the regulation of their status, is currently preparing a comprehensive guidebook. This guidebook will provide answers to frequently asked questions regarding the law and its executive regulations.
Law on Reconciliation for Building Violations
The guidebook aims to educate citizens on the details of the law and will be made available to all relevant administrative bodies and committees responsible for its implementation. It will also be published online to ensure that all citizens have access to accurate information and answers to their questions about the reconciliation process.
Minister El Sherbiny emphasized that the primary goal of the reconciliation law is developmental, aiming to foster stable, aesthetically pleasing urban environments, particularly in new cities, by addressing and legalizing as many building violations as possible.
Response to Inquiries about the Reconciliation Law
Nafisa Mahmoud Hashem, Advisor to the Minister and Head of the Housing and Utilities Sector, who also chairs the committee responding to inquiries about the law, stated that the committee continues to work closely with the planning and development sectors of the New Urban Communities Authority to address inquiries from new city authorities.
She added that three instructional guides have already been prepared for citizens, technical committees, and appeal committees. These guides have been distributed across new cities to raise awareness about the reconciliation process and to clarify the roles of administrative bodies and the specialized committees.
It’s worth noting that Minister Sherif El Sherbiny issued Decree No. 364 of 2024 to form this committee. It is chaired by Nafisa Mahmoud Hashem and includes prominent figures such as Mustafa El Najjar, Head of the Housing and Utilities Sector, and Dr. Walid Abbas, Deputy Head of the New Urban Communities Authority for Planning and Projects, among other experts. The committee’s role is to respond to inquiries from administrative bodies and specialized committees tasked with implementing the reconciliation law.
