Engineer Sherif El-Shorbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, reviewed the projects that have been completed and are currently being executed or assigned in the utilities and network maintenance sector of the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) for 2024. These projects include electricity networks and stations, drinking water and sanitation systems, and telecommunication networks across various new cities and urban developments.
Engineer El-Shorbiny stated that the total number of electricity projects being executed has reached 272, with a total value of 48.5 billion Egyptian pounds. In addition, 757 projects related to drinking water, sanitation, and roads have been completed or are ongoing, covering a total length of 485 kilometers with an estimated cost of 36.396 billion pounds. Furthermore, 142 telecommunications network projects are being implemented with a total value of 2.1565 billion pounds.
Engineer Amin Ghoneim, Deputy Chairman of NUCA for Utilities and Network Maintenance, mentioned that 31 electricity network projects have been completed, along with 3 power station and line projects, while 17 network projects have been assigned. Currently, 208 electricity network projects and 13 power station and line connection projects are in progress.
He also added that 69 projects related to drinking water and sanitation have been completed, including a wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 20,000 cubic meters per day. Ongoing projects include 334 drinking water projects and 321 wastewater treatment projects, along with the implementation and rehabilitation of 16 drinking water plants and 16 sewage treatment plants.
Regarding telecommunications, 14 projects have been completed, and 128 projects are currently under implementation in the new urban areas
