Engineer Sherif El-Sherbini, the Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, held an extensive meeting at the New Alamein City Authority’s headquarters to review the progress of various development projects in the North Coast region. The projects, managed by the New Urban Communities Authority and its agencies, are part of the state’s plan to maximize the potential of the North Coast, as directed by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The minister directed the immediate commencement of the lake in the “New Marina” project, located south of the Marina Al-Alamein Tourist Center, with a target completion date before the next summer season. He emphasized selecting the best construction companies specialized in lake works to expedite the development of the lands south of the Marina Al-Alamein Tourist Center. Additionally, he called for swift coordination with relevant ministries and authorities to identify suitable locations for implementing lakes along the western North Coast’s international coastal road.
El-Sherbini reviewed studies being prepared by specialized consulting firms to determine suitable locations for a series of lakes south of the coastal road. The goal is to enhance the value of these lands, create more investment opportunities for tourism development projects, and increase the availability of housing units and hotel rooms to accommodate the growing number of tourists in the coming years.
The minister also monitored the progress of infrastructure upgrades at Marina Al-Alamein, including improvements to water and sewage systems, marine works, green spaces, roads, and more. He also discussed the status of the “Marina 8” project on the new lake south of Marina Al-Alamein, which includes villas, twin houses, chalets, and residential buildings. The project covers an area of 400 acres, featuring multiple levels to ensure all units have a lake view.
A detailed explanation was provided on the implementation status of utilities and roads in the “Shams Al-Hikma” area, allocated to the residents of Ras Al-Hikma City. The alternative area, according to the plan, includes residential, service, commercial, and investment zones, in addition to the main road network. The development of lands under the jurisdiction of the New Urban Communities Authority in the Western Dabaa area, spanning 1,230 acres, was also discussed. This development will include a fully serviced urban community for the residents of the Western Dabaa region, as well as service and regional investment areas overlooking the coastal road.
El-Sherbini further reviewed the progress of residential units in New Alamein City, including projects like the beach towers, downtown towers, “Mazarine” compound, the Latin Quarter, the presidential initiative “Housing for All Egyptians,” the heritage city, infrastructure projects, and roads. He stressed the importance of adhering to the timelines for completing and delivering units to their respective owners.
The meeting also covered a report on the work of the committee tasked with surveying and negotiating with entities within the boundaries of the presidential decree No. 361 of 2020, which reallocated land parcels in the North Coast region to the New Urban Communities Authority for the establishment of new urban communities. The minister directed the committee to set a timeline for completing its tasks and collecting the Authority’s dues.
Additionally, El-Sherbini instructed the preparation of a weekly report on the committee’s efforts to monitor companies’ compliance in executing tourism development projects in the lands under the New Urban Communities Authority’s jurisdiction in the North Coast region. He emphasized the need to enforce the planned execution of various project components, particularly residential units and hotel rooms.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Sayed Ismail, Deputy Minister; Engineer Amin Ghoneim, Deputy Chairman of the New Urban Communities Authority for Development and City Development; Engineer Khaled Sorour, Head of the Tourist Villages Authority; Engineer Ahmed Ibrahim, Head of the New Alamein City Authority; and other officials from the ministry and the minister’s technical office.
