Engineer Sherif El-Shorbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, emphasized the importance of intensifying investment opportunities in Egypt’s new cities, particularly in Aswan, through 2030. He highlighted the need to enhance the city’s appeal, boost the collection of financial dues, and maximize returns from advertising systems during a meeting held at the New Aswan City Authority.
“Sakan Lil Kol Al-Masryeen” Housing Units
During his visit, the minister reviewed the progress of various projects, including the presidential initiative “Sakan Lil Kol Al-Masryeen” (Housing for All Egyptians) and the riverside development projects. He urged for the swift completion of a 158-bed hospital to provide essential medical services and instructed the team to establish a clear timeline for improving the bridge access road.
Minister El-Shorbiny also received updates from Engineer Ahmed Abdel-Azim on the operational status of different sectors in the city, including financial performance, ongoing projects, and city revenues and expenditures.
Digital Transformation Plan
The minister also examined the city’s efforts in implementing a digital transformation strategy. He called for the rapid activation of this initiative to deliver public services electronically. Officials from New Aswan City presented the progress made, which included establishing a central network at the city’s administration building, linking the citizens’ service center with the Ministry of Planning, and integrating water services and bill payments with the New Urban Communities Authority. Additionally, a digital platform providing a wide range of services for developers and citizens was established.
