Minister of Housing Participates in 41st Arab Housing Ministers’ Council in Algeria

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, attended the 41st session of the Arab Housing Ministers’ Council and the 8th Arab Housing Conference, held in Algeria from December 17 to 19, 2024. The event saw wide international participation and included a delegation of senior officials from the Ministry of Housing.

Promoting Sustainable Urban Development

In his address, Minister El-Sherbiny highlighted the Council’s success in advancing the agenda for sustainable urban development, fostering the exchange of expertise among member states, and establishing mechanisms to address current and future challenges faced by Arab countries. He noted that, under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and within the framework of Egypt’s Vision 2030, urban development and the provision of adequate housing remain national priorities, particularly in light of prevailing global challenges.

Egypt’s Commitment to Regional Collaboration

The Minister emphasized Egypt’s role in fostering regional collaboration, particularly through its hosting of the 12th World Urban Forum (WUF12) in Cairo last November. The event, held in cooperation with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), showcased Egypt’s leadership in urban planning and drew participation from numerous Arab countries.

Appreciation for Algeria

Expressing gratitude to Algeria, Minister El-Sherbiny conveyed appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by the Algerian leadership, government, and people. He acknowledged Algeria’s efforts in hosting the 41st Council session and the 8th Arab Housing Conference, which exemplify the shared spirit of Arab solidarity.

The conference underscores the shared commitment of Arab nations to sustainable housing solutions and urban development, paving the way for greater regional cooperation in addressing housing and infrastructure challenges.
