Minister of Housing Oversees Progress of “Sowar Towers” Project in Alexandria

Sowar Towers

Engineer Sherif El-Sharbeni, Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, has reviewed the progress of the “Sowar Towers” project. The project spans approximately 420 acres and features 64 residential towers containing 3,068 units and 310 villas. It is located in the Sowar urban development area in West Carrefour, Alexandria.

The “Sowar” project aims to offer a variety of housing options, enhance investment services, and contribute to the growth of developmental projects in Alexandria. The project is being developed in two primary phases.

In the first phase, the New Urban Communities Authority is constructing 64 residential towers, which will house 3,068 apartments on a 60-acre plot. This initial phase is part of a larger 120-acre project area. The towers are designed as a luxury residential compound, with apartment sizes ranging from 130 to 280 square meters. Additionally, 310 villas will be built on a 57-acre plot, along with necessary infrastructure and roadworks.

The second phase focuses on broader regional development, guided by the political leadership’s “Together We Build the Future” initiative. A cooperation protocol has been signed between the New Urban Communities Authority, the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces, and several investors. This agreement involves developing 250 acres within the Sowar urban area through investment projects under a partnership and equity-sharing system. These projects will encompass various activities and will be managed under the oversight of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces.

The minister further noted that the New Urban Communities Authority is working with investors on 60 land plots for mixed-use developments, including residential, commercial, administrative, and educational purposes. This effort is part of the presidential initiative “Together We Build the Future,” which aims to foster collaborative development across Egypt.
