Eng. Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, held a meeting with Minister of Labor Mohamed Gibran to discuss ways to strengthen collaboration between their ministries. The meeting focused on improving conditions for employees in the water and wastewater sectors and across the construction industry nationwide.
El-Sherbiny emphasized the Housing Ministry’s commitment to elevating services for employees of the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater and its subsidiaries. He stressed the ministry’s focus on worker needs, ensuring safe work conditions and a decent quality of life. El-Sherbiny also highlighted the state’s dedication to the welfare of Egypt’s workforce under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, recognizing their role in transforming deserts into thriving urban areas.
Minister Gibran reviewed the Ministry of Labor’s initiatives to enhance vocational training and develop workers’ skills in alignment with market needs. He affirmed the ministry’s readiness to work with the Ministry of Housing to provide a skilled workforce for both domestic and international job markets.
Gibran also explained new provisions in the labor law focusing on irregular workers, including annual benefits and compensation in case of injury or death. He emphasized collaboration with the Ministry of Housing to expand the database of unregistered workers, encouraging companies to register their workers for extended social and health support.
Both ministers agreed on the importance of joint training programs to promote workplace safety and health standards, and they called on companies to adhere to minimum wage requirements to ensure fair wages for all workers.
